Communicating with Data

Workshop Organised by the Monash Business Analytics Team (WOMBAT)

Spatio-temporal visualisation for natural disasters

In this tutorial, we will use data visualisations of weather and hazard forecasts to better understand the impacts of natural disaster events.

Kate Saunders is a lecturer at the Monash University. Her core research interests are problems in statistical climatology, with a specific interest in climate extremes and extreme value theory. Her PhD studies were in applications of extreme value theory for modelling rainfall extremes in Australia at the University of Melbourne.

Participants need a basic knowledge of R, ideally with familiarity with the topics covered in R for Data Science. You will also need to have R and RStudio installed on your computer.
